Unlocking the Power of the Mind: Hypnosis vs. Hypnotherapy

There is a lot of misconception not only around Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy in general but also the difference between the two of them. So, let’s explore this a little more…

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis isn't some mystical phenomenon; it's a natural state that you experience daily. Picture those moments of deep focus or relaxation, similar to a flow state – that's hypnosis at play. Common examples of being in a hypnotic state are when you’re watching tv, driving a care or just as you wake in the morning or fall asleep at night.

During these times your brain slips into a theta brainwave state, a sweet spot between wakefulness and dreaming. This “trance-like state” is the gateway to your subconscious, where beliefs, thoughts, emotional responses and habits take root.

In this hypnotic state, your mind is open and receptive to suggestions that is why it is SO important to be aware of when you are in a theta brainwave (hypnotic state) and be incredibly mindful with what you are consuming during this time. For example, are you on social media comparing yourself to others? Are you feeding into certain undesirable thought patterns? Are you watching a horror film?

OR

Are you actively visualising your dream life? Watching inspiring films and documentaries? Actively doing your best to embed positive mantras, affirmations and self talk? Meditating and so on.

The thing to understand here is your subconscious doesn’t care or understand what is good or bad, right or wrong so it is up to you to become more mindful of how you utilise the time when you are naturally in this powerful state; by harnessing this state, you can reshape your inner landscape, crafting new belief systems, identities and thought patterns.

Here's the kicker: 95% of your cognitive function stems from the subconscious. That means your conscious mind only taps into a fraction of your daily mental activity. Have you ever felt stuck in unhelpful patterns or beliefs? That's your subconscious calling the shots.

Enter subconscious reprogramming (aka hypnosis). By tweaking those deep-seated beliefs and habits, you pave the way for positive change in alignment with your conscious desires.

What is Hypnotherapy?

Now, let's talk hypnotherapy – the powerhouse of subconscious transformation. It's like a therapy session with a twist. At Bloomin Within we blend a range of  techniques from cognitive behavioural therapy, neuro-linguistic programming, and psychotherapy into a hypnotherapy session - ensuring that the client is in a hypnotic state prior to engaging in the therapy.

Once in this state, together with your hypnotherapist, you dive deep into limiting beliefs and emotional blockages, releasing and re-pattern them for a fresh perspective.

Hypnotherapy isn't just about rewriting your subconscious script; it's about empowerment. By increasing self-awareness and reflection, you gain the tools to align your conscious desires with your subconscious landscape. It's about bridging the gap between that powerful 5% of conscious mind with the 95% of your subconscious.
